Service Description

This group is open with mothers with babies under 1 year old. Tender Postnatal is a small therapeutic group based around reflecting on our experiences, and feeling able to talk freely and openly about this tender postnatal life. The group is facilitated by Bryony, a counsellor and perinatal yoga teacher. Bryony has over 12yrs experience working with families and has been a mother since 2002. The adaption to motherhood is sometimes called Matrescence. It is an intense process with physiological, psychological and practical changes to our lives. It is commonplace to spend significant amounts of time preparing for and learning about birth, but where are the spaces we use to prepare for and become more comfortable within actually being a mother? Many mothers find this shift such a huge change in their lives that they experience feelings of whiplash, feeling a little lost, or like the ground has seismically shifted under their feet. This is a tender time of life. And yet there are few places to have open, honest and facilitated conversations about these immense changes in our lives. Some Mothers may be feeling some rawness or sensitivity in this time. It may be that you've had a difficult start, or you live with anxiety or low mood. For some, past experiences, or family dynamics may be a source of difficulty. Other Mothers may feel like many aspects of birth or the postnatal time been 'straightforward', and yet they still feel this huge shift to life, and would benefit from being able to speak about it in a reflective group. It might be clear to you why you're feeling tender, or it might have come as a surprise. Either way, you're very welcome to attend the group. As a group, we will talk over aspects of life in motherhood, with chances to be heard and to hear others in a safe facilitated space. In this way, we can feel -less alone, -more connected, -calmer and -better able to cope with the rollercoaster of mothering and life. The group will also involve some mindful and polyvagal toning practices to help settle the nervous system and for you to learn as a tool you can use in times of difficulty. Babies are welcome in the space. This course was previously 6wks, but based on previous participants feedback it is now 8wks. You can see feedback from past participants in the photo section of this listing. Details: Fridays 11am - 12:30pm 8 weeks Max 6 participants £240 If you need a payment plan to spread out the cost, just get in touch
